About Searching Henry

Usually you write back and forth for weeks before you even meet, and the picture you build of the other person doesn't always match reality. Searching Henry turns that around. You go out, you place a temporary marker at a public place, and wait for an approach request.

There is no chat before the meeting. There is no infinite swiping. What there is: a map of people who are out right now, an honest photo, a few lines about who they are, and the possibility of a real conversation over a real table.

Markers are temporary and always placed by hand at a public place — a café, a park bench, a museum foyer. You are not tracked (note that you can share your live location), and your marker disappears when your time is up or when you remove it.

The app is in English, but your profile and the place labels on the map can be written in any language you prefer.

Always meet in public places where other people are present. We have zero tolerance for harassment of any kind — it can lead to an account being suspended or deleted. Reports go straight to our team and are reviewed as soon as possible. If you are ever in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (112 in Finland).

Afterwards, you each decide independently whether you'd like to see each other again. The answer is given in the app — privately, and only revealed once both of you have answered.

Approach requests

Approach requests. Your marker shows only an approximate spot, not the exact place. Someone who would like to come and say hi sends a request; you get a notification in the bell in the top bar and answer yes or no. The sender is told either way. If you accept, you describe exactly where you are and how to recognise you, and only that person can see it.

After an accepted request you are just for each other. Both markers disappear from everyone else's map — only the two of you still see each other, so you can find your way to the same table.

The decision is made in the app. When you have met, one of you presses "We met" and you each answer yes or no on your own phone — nobody has to say it out loud. Your answer stays hidden until both of you have answered. If both say yes, a text box opens where you write how you can be reached, for example an Instagram handle or a phone number, and you see each other's. If at least one says no, you both see "Not this time" and disappear from each other for good.
