Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

By using Searching Henry you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our safety rules. Read them before you create an account.

These Terms & Conditions ("terms" or "agreement") govern your use of the Searching Henry website, application and any related services (together, the "service"). They form an agreement between you and Searching Henry Oy, registered at Pitkänkalliontie 17 A, 02170 Espoo, Finland, business ID 3650663-6 ("Searching Henry", "we", "us").

By creating an account or otherwise using the service you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes are announced in the app and on this page with a new effective date before they take effect. Continued use after that means you accept the updated terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be an adult, act for yourself, and keep one account only.

By using the service you represent and warrant that:

  • you are an individual aged 18 or older, not a company or other legal entity;
  • you are legally able to enter into a binding agreement with us;
  • you are not prohibited by any applicable law from using the service;
  • you have not been convicted of, and are not subject to proceedings for, a violent or sexual offence, and you are not listed on any sex offender register;
  • you do not hold another active account on the service;
  • we have not previously removed you from the service, unless you have our written permission to create a new account.

If you stop meeting these requirements, your right to use the service ends automatically, you must delete your account, and we may remove your account without notice.

Age verification is voluntary. You may confirm your age with an official identity document through Stripe Identity for a one-off fee of 1,90 €, which covers the cost of the check. The check is run by Stripe, LLC; we receive only its outcome. A verified profile shows a badge, but no feature of the service depends on verification, and skipping it does not limit your use of the service. Giving a false age remains a breach of these terms and can lead to removal of your account.

A daily limit on profile views is planned but not in use yet: once it is introduced, you will be able to open seven profiles from the map each day, and unlimited viewing will be available as a paid extra for 1,99 € / month. Until we announce that the feature is live, viewing is not limited and nothing is charged for it.

3. Your account and responsibilities

You agree to:

  • keep your login details safe and not share your account with anyone;
  • provide truthful profile information — your first name, age, gender and descriptions must be accurate;
  • use a recent, recognisable photo that actually shows you;
  • treat other users and our staff courteously and respectfully, both on and off the service;
  • comply with all applicable laws, including privacy and intellectual property law;
  • use the current version of the website or application.

4. Markers and public places

A marker is something you place yourself, at a public place, for a limited time. We never track you.

  • Markers may only be placed at public places where a stranger can safely approach you.
  • Never place a marker at a private home, at a workplace you do not control, or on behalf of another person.
  • Markers are temporary and expire at the time you set. Expired markers are deleted.
  • The precise details you write about your location are shown only to a person whose approach request you have accepted. After an accepted request you may also choose to share your live location with that one person; you start it yourself, your marker is hidden while you share, sharing stops when you stop it or when the sharing time ends, and it is never shared with anyone else.
  • After an accepted approach request both markers are hidden from all other users, and once you have met you each answer yes or no in the app. Answers are revealed only when both of you have answered. If both answer yes, you may share contact details you write yourself; if at least one answers no, you are permanently hidden from each other.
  • You are responsible for deciding how much detail about your location you share, and with whom.

5. Meeting etiquette

Searching Henry exists for real-life introductions. Before you part ways, each person gives a clear yes or no about meeting again. Accepting a no gracefully is part of the agreement you make by using this service.

Meetings happen at your own initiative and at your own risk. We do not organise, supervise or attend meetings between users.

6. Prohibited conduct

You agree that you will not:

  • misrepresent your identity, age, occupation or affiliation with any person or organisation;
  • harass, bully, stalk, intimidate, threaten, demean or otherwise mistreat any person;
  • solicit money or anything of value from another user, whether as a gift, loan or payment;
  • use the service for any unlawful, fraudulent or commercial purpose, including scams and pyramid schemes;
  • photograph, film or record another user without their explicit consent;
  • collect other users' personal data, scrape the service, or use bots, crawlers or automated tools against it;
  • use or develop third-party applications, including AI or machine-learning systems, that interact with the service or its content without our written consent;
  • copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from other users' content or from our content, trade marks or software;
  • probe, scan or test the service for vulnerabilities, transmit malicious code, or otherwise interfere with the service or its networks;
  • create a new account after we have suspended or terminated your account, unless we permit it;
  • submit reports about other users on false, misleading or plainly unfounded grounds, or otherwise misuse our reporting tools.

Your licence to use the service is revoked automatically if you do any of the above.

7. Prohibited content

You may not upload, post or share content that:

  • is offensive, harassing, threatening, frightening or humiliating to another person;
  • is obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, violent or contains nudity;
  • is defamatory, discriminatory, or promotes racism, sexism, hate or bigotry;
  • is unlawful or encourages unlawful activity, including trafficking, exploitation of minors, terrorism or extremism;
  • promotes self-harm, eating disorders, dangerous challenges or harmful misinformation;
  • shows or identifies another person without their consent, or reveals someone's private information;
  • infringes anyone's intellectual property or other rights;
  • is spam, advertising, or a solicitation of any kind.

8. Reports, hiding and suspension

Any user can hide another user; hidden users stop appearing to each other on the map. Any user can also report another user, and must give a written reason. Reports are visible only to our safety team.

We have zero tolerance for harassment of any kind, and harassment can lead to an account being suspended or deleted. Accounts are not suspended automatically by reports: every report is reviewed by our team as soon as possible, and we decide whether to suspend or delete the reported account. Suspending an account hides the profile and any active marker. We may also suspend or terminate an account at our discretion where we believe these terms have been broken. Suspended users may request a review at info@searchinghenry.com.

9. Your content and the licence you give us

You keep ownership of the photo, texts and other content you add. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and distribute that content solely in order to operate and provide the service to you and other users.

You are responsible for your content and represent that you have the right to share it. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

10. Our intellectual property

The service, including its software, design, text, graphics and the Searching Henry name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive and revocable licence to use the service for your own private, non-commercial use. All other rights are reserved.

11. Paid features

There are no paid features at the moment.

  • All current features, including approach requests, are available to every user.
  • If we introduce paid features later, the price and the terms will be shown clearly before you confirm anything, and you will never be charged without your explicit consent.

Consumer rights and refund practices are subject to the law of Finland.

12. Your safety is your own

We do not run background checks on users. Meet in public, tell a friend where you are going, and leave whenever you want to. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, online and offline.

13. Ending your account

You may delete your account at any time from your profile; your profile, photo, preferences and markers are removed. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, or discontinue the service, in which case we will give notice where reasonably possible.

14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any user is who they claim to be.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the conduct of any user. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or your statutory consumer rights.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland, and disputes are handled by the District Court of Länsi-Uusimaa (Länsi-Uudenmaan käräjäoikeus), Finland, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rules of the country in which you live.

If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also contact your national consumer dispute body, or use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform. Please contact us first — we would rather solve the problem directly.

16. Sanctions and export restrictions

The service is not available in countries under comprehensive international sanctions.

We must comply with EU, United Nations, United Kingdom and United States sanctions and export-control rules. The service is therefore not offered to people who live in, are located in, or access it from a country or territory subject to comprehensive sanctions — including, at present, North Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba, Russia, Belarus, Myanmar and the occupied regions of Ukraine (Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson) — or to anyone listed on an applicable sanctions list.

By using the service you represent that none of the above applies to you. We block access from sanctioned jurisdictions using the country your internet connection resolves to; attempting to circumvent that block, for example with a VPN or proxy, is a breach of these terms and can lead to immediate removal of your account. We may update the list of restricted countries at any time to reflect changes in the law.
